Prior to the introduction of UPVC doors and UPVC door locks the majority of doors were manufactured from hard or soft wood. Mortice locks like the Chubb five lever were common place. These locks provided an excellent defence from picking and drilling. Burglars used brute force to gain access to your property. Five lever mortice locks had a box keeper but only the one locking point. The common thing that happened was the door, frame or both gave way before the lock did.
UPVC Doors & UPVC Door Locks Introduced
Then a new product appeared on the market. UPVC doors had the advantage of low maintenance, draught free, multi-point locking and they didn’t rot like timber doors. The early doors had locking units that had only two roller pins and one latch bolt controlled by a euro cylinder. These doors were relatively easy to spring. Manufacturers designed the mushroom sliding pin to try and stop the springing open of the doors. This still had its vulnerabilities and manufactures designed locking units with hook bolts to withstand determined attacks. The UPVC door mechanisms now have a minimum of two or more hook bolts with a combination of a dead bolt and rollers.
No matter which locking unit the door had the cylinder which controls all of the locking hooks and bolts was a standard 5 or 6 pin cylinder. What most people don’t know is that this was then the weak point on their UPVC doors. Criminals discovered this weakness in the design of the euro cylinder and exploited it to their advantage.
The internet has not helped this situation by showing how to snap cylinders on websites such as YouTube. It is possible with simple tools purchased from DIY stores to snap a standard euro lock cylinder in under 20 seconds. Imagine the home owners shock when this happened on a multi-point locking mechanism that was considered to be so secure.

When Ultion is in Lockdown Mode your home and family are safe.
Even though Ultion has thwarted the intruders attempt to enter your home you can still operate your lock normally from inside.
Ultion meets the highest TS007 standard (3 star) without needing to be bolstered with support of cylinder protectors or extra secure door handles. Sold Secure Diamond is a test developed in conjunction with The Master Locksmith Association. Tests designed by locksmiths.
